Did you know? The St. George Reef Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse on the Pacific Coast and the most expensive ever built by the U.S. Government.

When you cross over the Golden Bear Bridge that spans the mighty Klamath River, you enter a special place unlike any other in California, a place where ancient redwoods meet the sea. Del Norte is home to the Redwood National and State Parks, breathtaking views, and scenic river activity. Outdoor-lovers will revel in the 106,000 acres of preserved coastal forest land, the many winding miles of hiking trails, educational presentations offered by dedicated rangers, and numerous camping opportunities.

Del Norte County features miles of pristine, secluded beaches bordered by rugged cliffs and towering redwoods. In Klamath, visit a Native American History Museum, as well enjoy seasonal whale-watching. Spend some time by the Klamath River, fishing for salmon in its waters or enjoying a jet boat ride.

In Crescent City, follow Pebble Beach Drive to view sea lions sunning on rocks and whales playing offshore, or head north to the 5,000-acre Lake Earl Wildlife Area. Visit the town of Smith River, where more than ninety percent of the country's Easter lily bulbs are grown. The Smith River National Recreation Area features the Smith flowing through canyons, and has rapids for white-water rafting. You'll truly be amazed by the adventure and spirit of Del Norte County.
